'Home': Social Inclusion Through Art
A joint project from Mayday Trust and Community Arts Workshop
In partnership with Community Arts Workshop, Mayday Trust is holding a series of 12 thematic art sessions during 2011. The aim of these workshops is to increase practical art and craft skills and widen horizons for some of Warwickshire’s most marginalised residents. The project focuses around the theme of ‘home’, an undoubtedly be an emotive subject for Mayday Trust clients and a powerful topic for self-expression.
Members of the group are creating a giant ‘dolls house’ structure which will then be exhibited. As the project develops participants will be invited to create furniture and decorations to go inside the house. This will allow participants to form small groups or work individually to produce unique elements.
Mayday Trust is a UK registered charity which provides specialised support, life-skills training and accommodation for vulnerable adults. Mayday support individuals who find it difficult to manage everyday living and need help to develop those skills.
These photos show some of the work done in the first four workshops.
