More about the Arts & Health Programme
Community Arts Workshop has been commissioned by Warwickshire County Council to carry out a large scale Arts and Health programme with projects engaging people that use the County's Health and Social Care services.
Following the original request for submissions in November 2009 the projects have been selected that form the programme.
The programme will run between now and Spring 2010 and will involve arts projects in each of the County's five Districts (Warwick, Stratford, Rugby, North Warwickshire, and Nuneaton & Bedworth). The programme will reach a wide range of people using the health and social care services with significant involvement of children and young people.
The programme, called "Everyone's Issue", will support people to gain in physical and mental confidence, self esteem and skills through participation in arts activities. CAW will develop and facilitate projects that include film, animation, visual art, creative writing, dance, theatre, and music. CAW will be working in partnership with Heather Payne of the Warwickshire Users Forum along with community artists and volunteers.
CAW will also make a digital media record of the programme involving people using services and the providers of those services, to help create a big picture of the health and social care scene in Warwickshire. This will feature the needs and wants of the people that use the social and health care services. We will also explore new ideas for creative ways forward towards greater independence, wellbeing, social inclusion and empowerment for those coping with health and wellbeing issues.
The programme will be also celebrated and reported on along with lots of relevant news, views, artwork, poetry and information in a magazine/newspaper called "Everyone's Issue", plus material appearing on the CAW website.
