CAW wins tender to carry out 2009/2010
Arts and Health programme for WCC

Community Arts Workshop has been commissioned by Warwickshire County Council to carry out a large scale Arts and Health programme with a range of projects engaging people that use the County's Health and Social Care services.

The programme will run between now and Spring 2010 and will involve arts projects in each of the County's five Districts  (Warwick, Stratford, Rugby, North Warwickshire, and Nuneaton & Bedworth). The programme aims to reach a wide range of people using the health and social care services with significant involvement of children and young people.

The programme, called "Everyone's Issue", will aim to support people to gain in physical and mental confidence, self esteem and skills through participation in arts activities. CAW will develop and facilitate projects that may include film, animation, 2D and 3D visual art, creative writing, dance, theatre, music, journalism, photography and community publishing. CAW will be working in partnership with Heather Payne of the Warwickshire Users Forum (WUF!) along with many community artists and volunteers.

The first part of the programme will gather in expressions of need/interest from the health and social care providers across Warwickshire, identifying groups of people we could work with and the type of positive outcomes they might wish to see from the project. For example, people with mental health issues gaining increased confidence and decreased feelings of isolation, elderly out patients recovering from falls gaining increased mobility and independence, or young people at risk of substance abuse gaining confidence in their own decision making skills and ability to resist peer pressure.  The information received back from these providers will be used to select a range of groups to participate in the projects and to match them up with community artists and spaces where the projects can be carried out.

CAW will also make a film/digital media piece about the whole programme and the people taking part, and produce a final publication with the projects and other relevant art work, news and views, called "Everyone's Issue".

If you are involved with health and social care then please go to the "Everyone's Issue" page where you will find guidance, details of the assessment criteria, and can download the expression of interest form.
