Anyone can run a business. Business is not an
exclusive discipline. It does not have a definitive profile.
Fag packets and beer mats have launched more successful
business formats than a rain forest the size of Wales worth
of Business Advice manuals and brochures.
Business Bunker provides first step support by way of
empathy, encouragement, enthusiasm and commitment to people
and organisations seeking to take their first tentative step
towards enterprise. Business Bunker is provided by people who
have actually been there and are still involved in business,
networks and business culture.
Martin Kelly runs the Business Bunker and has worked in
creative niche businesses from music to fashion over the last
twelve years. Martin is a Millennium Award Winner in relation
to the Business Bunker project and is supported by UNLTD -
the trading name for the Foundation for Social Entrepreneurs.
As a long term resident of Leamington Spa, Martin offers
advice, support and the benefit of his experience where
appropriate to local would-be entrepreneurs and groups.
Accountancy culture, has dominated the UK's business advice
sector, too often placing the cart in front of the horse when
encountering prospective entrepreneurs by focussing their
advice on accountancy based fixations such as the 'Business
Plan' as the first step. This is an introduction that often
leaves the client flat, disengaged and usually discouraged.
The aim of the Business Bunker is to boil down to the basics
of business and encourage the development of a viable
business premise first and foremost. (Accounting issues to
follow, where and when there is something to account for.)
The Business Bunker compliments the regions existing
Enterprise community, drawing in the various initiatives and
specialist provisions. It reveals an understandable and
digestible local synergy, that can be made available to the
users of the Business Bunker.
The Community Arts Workshop (CAW) benefits its users by
generating networks of creative and inventive individuals and
organisations that combine to create positive local projects
and ventures. CAW is a growing human and practical resource
for a variety of creative and potentially creative people and
groups who gravitate toward this cultural hub. CAW enables
ideas, projects, leads and information to be accessed and
exchanged. CAW continues to advance the momentum of community
activity in the town and region, as well as having a positive
influence on the general well being of its users through
access to creative expression and social interaction.
