Key Working Areas

Audio Production, Recording and Distribution

CAW houses two soundproof studios, a live room and a control room, to deliver and facilitate Audio activities for the community. These spaces will greatly enhance CAW's capacity and allow many local people access to otherwise unavailable facilities.

CAW has a long history of delivering targeted music provision in Warwickshire, with a wide range of participants and audiences in the following areas.

Music Production involves learning to use instruments and equipment to produce the chosen style of music.

Music Technology combines basic to advanced technical skills (sampling, sequencing and processing) with creativity.

DJ-ingis a musical skill that is about anyone playing the music they like, from disco to dance to country to classical.

CAW works with people of all ages to develop their creative ability, with an emphasis on gaining the confidence and knowledge to independently create their own material, be it music, soundtracks or spoken word.

Once recorded, this content can be distributed in the following ways:

  • By transfer onto CD or other recordable medium
  • By webcast, so that programmes can appear on the internet
  • By broadcast on radio, whether it is CAW's own radio station, hospital radio, student or independent local radio.

Community Radio will enable the whole of the community to develop their own programmes and content, and allows local talent to be broadcast to a much greater extent than on commercial radio.

The government is currently developing legislation for full-time community radio. CAW believes that, if allowed, this could provide an amazing local cultural network benefiting the whole community.

Currently two months worth of programmes can be broadcast in any one year under a Restricted Service Licence. These could be used to hold regular radio festivals.
