FIRSTLY: The very next Co-op meet is Friday 29th October 2004 at 6pm for a 6.30 start.
The agenda for the meet is as follows:
- Xmas Sonic Vision event: here at CAW. We have secured the venue for Friday December 17th, time TBC so pen in the diaries now before the all important date is taken by other commitments. The event is a Co-op / Call the Shots collaboration and will be themed on Sonic Vision ie (live) music to film / film to music. So we will be calling for submissions to create an evening''s worth of excellent entertainment. We have VJs submitting, film-makers, musicians are collaborating with filmmakers and viceversa films are being made specially for the event and music scored should be worth celebrating without Christmas so this will be the taster event for even more Sonic Vision to come.
- 7-inch comes to Leamington. We had a visit from 7" cinema who really want to do a collaborative event and low-grade film submissions competition here in Leamington. We are looking at venues to support the 7" formula ie a pub and are thinking about the Jug for its facilities ie we want DJ and screening space. Any ideas for suitable venues would be welcomed.
- SCREENING: Natasha will be giving you a sneak preview of the first program of MAC shorts that she is organising so take a look at what else is being produced throughout the region. Remember the winner gets their film screened before the main feature at the MAC. First program scheduled for January.
- Lee Charlish Korky Films has promised to bring some of his films to be screened so lets take a look at what else the Trailblazer resounding winner has produced. Itll be great to see your films on big screen too.
- Any other films to be seen will be welcomed.
- PITCHING: It's time. We are ready to shoot the next Co-op collaborative film so bring your ideas and pitch to the group. Ideas are rife so get your loudspeaker out to be heard you could be fighting through the inspired hoards.
- CRASH COURSE: On the back of the success of Stef and Damian's lighting workshop we want to organise another Crash Course for November. We'll go with the consensus so express your preference for your own skills development.
What's been happening that I know about?
Another Co-op production (Damian, Stef and Natasha) filmed footage for the Loft's production of a Clockwork Orange that is on right now to enable a multi-media production. Stef produced a particularly confrontational montage piece that was maybe fortunately shielded from the safe crowd by an ill-placed actor.
So yeah a few Co-op contingents took a social trip down to the theatre to see the final product.
ALSO: Screen West Midlands Funding Roadshow yesterday proved successful in the first round of potential funding revenue for the Co-op. Details I will share at the meeting but Steve Chapman is visiting CAW personally next Thursday. CAW is developing a mobile cinema expanding audiences to a more diverse range of films by taking screenings out in the community. Major thumbs up for that project with a potential to invest set-ups funds to create a more formalised Co-op structure and web-site development we want masterclass money too so we'll see what the visit brings.
See you Friday.
£2.50 as usual.
I overlooked Dave Jinks's input into the Clockwork Orange production - a big thanks Dave for 'Filmising' the footage. Amazing work as always
