Funding for the ongoing work of CAW in the current climate of spending cuts is getting increasingly tough. If you value the work we do and would like to support our activities it is now possible to donate directly to CAW through our donation page on Charity Giving at www.charitygiving.co.uk/donatecommunityarts.
The Charity Giving website also allows you to set up your own fundraising pages in support of CAW. So if you are organising an event or doing a sponsored sporting activity then why not do it to support CAW?

Background
After 11 years of operating as a 'not for profit' company the Community Arts Workshop (CAW) has now completed the Charity Commission's procedure to become a charity. Our registered charity number is 1140313.
Over the years CAW has undertaken many successful art related projects throughout Coventry and Warwickshire that have benefited the most disadvantaged and marginalised groups within the community such as people with 'learning disabilities', those coping with 'mental health problems', people from ethnic minorities and young people at risk. This has all been done on a not for profit basis. The CAW committee decided that is was time to move the organisation to another level, and become a charity, to gain the official recognition that the organisation's work is truly for the benefit of others.
By becoming a charity we benefit from tax exemptions and the fact it is often easier to raise funds from the public, grant-making trusts and local government. The 'Charity Tag' also gives reassurance to the public that any donations and gifts they make are going to an organisation that is monitored and therefore will reach those most in need.
