CAW: A Participative Arts Organisation

Community Arts Workshop (CAW) was incorporated in 1999 as a ‘not for profit’ company dedicated to providing ‘affordable and accessible arts opportunities for all’.

Over the years we have become more and more dedicated to prioritising the needs of the most disadvantaged and excluded groups in our community i.e. people coping with ‘learning disabilities’ and with mental distress or ‘mental health problems’.

CAW has produced many community films and animations, indoor and outdoor murals, art exhibitions, festivals, theatre, community magazines, music, comedy and poetry events and visual art projects and social groups.

Most recently CAW has developed its ‘digital storying’ technique and we are now very interested in ‘social history’ projects producing visual art, film, animation, digital stories, books and magazines to record and explore our social history and the segregation and exclusion of many cultures, individuals and groups.

Much of our work is dedicated to supporting disadvantaged individuals and groups to find a ‘voice’, platforming and advocating their issues, feelings, needs and hopes.

PDF posters covering all aspects of CAW's mission can be downloaded below. Note that each PDF file is around 1 Mbyte.
